Iberian Lynx Tour

IBERIAN LYNX TOUR
in Doñana
Slider

The Iberian Lynx is one of the most endangered cat all over the world and it was very close to the extinction, only a few years ago.

Doñana and its surroundings hold one of the main Spanish population, with near 100 different lynx. Here, their main habitat is the Mediterranean forest and scrubland, where they find great opportunities to hunt their main prey, the rabbit.

The best time to try to spot the lynx is the winter, during the mating season, due the high activity of both, males and females. Another peak of activity occurs during the summer, when the kittens are starting to explore their territory, with their mother’s close supervision. Nevertheless, we can arrange the tour for you all over the year.

Route

We will visit the very best areas for the lynx inside the Natural Park of Doñana and its surroundings, in the county of Seville. We will drive along dirty roads and enjoy short walks in the middle of a magnificent landscape, looking for the footprints of the lynx and hopefully succeeding to watch the cat. It will be a good chance to learn about the wildlife of the Mediterranian forest.

Additional information

Due to the close proximity of the area we visit looking for the lynx to the northern border of the National Park of Doñana, we recommend to extend your tour into an extra long day trip (12 hours). That gives us time enought to look for the lynx and visit northern Doñana where the diversitiy of birds is incredible hight. You have more information about the Northern Doñana Birding tour here.

Don’t heasite to contact us to get further details or arrange a tailer-made tour, if you want to do the Iberian Lynx tour and some birding in northern Doñana, but 12 hours is too much for you. Although usually we try to see the lynx during the early morning, tours at dusk are also possible.
