Sierra Norte de Sevilla is very close to Seville, being part of Sierra Morena. These mountains are geologically very old, with rocks that are more than 500 million years old. That is why the mountains here are very rounded and barely exceed 1000 meters in altitude, after millions of years of erosion. The main landscape here is the “Dehesa”, an open forest of oaks (due to the action of the people) where livestock and wildlife coexist.
Sierra Norte stands out by the diversity and density of raptors, including the iconic Spanish Imperial Eagle.
Our propose to discover this area is a visit to “Cerro del Hierro”, an authentic labyrinth of boulders made by the action of the weather, but also people, as this was an active mine from Roman times until the last century.
After that we will visit a very interesting forest of Pyrenean Oak, a legacy from when this area was much colder and wetter. And of course we will discover the “Dehesas” , where the renowned Iberian pigs live.
If you wish to do another hike of different difficulty or duration, or situated in other areas of the park, please contact us. We know very well these hills of Sierra Norte and can find the best option for you.
