About us

Doñana Wings is a young company, founded in 2017 in Seville. Our aim is to show naturalists and photographers the enormous diversity of wildlife in Doñana and Western Andalusia. For us the most important thing is the conservation of nature, so we collaborate as much as we can in various projects of conservation and study of birds.

"I can’t remember the moment when I started to be interested in nature, but it must have been really soon, because I wrote my first field notebook when I was just 9 years old.

At the beginning I was mostly interested on mammals, but I was soon captivated by the wide variety of shapes, colours and behaviours of birds.

I started my studies as bird ringer when I was 14 years old and I got my degree in Biology at the University of Valencia in 2009. In addition to this I have participated in a great amount of bird ringing campaigns, not only in Spain, but also in Morocco.

Among all the birds, raptors are my favourite, because of that I have publish some papers about raptor migration in eastern Spain.

To make my wish come true, to turn my passion into my way of life and share with my customers the Andalucia’s natural treasures I have created Doñana Wings."

LOCAL GUIDE

"I'm Candela, a Galician biologist who has decided to move to South Spain and use all of my free time to go birding and learn more about birds.

I've loved nature since I was a child, and because of that I've never doubted about studying Biology. However, it wasn't until I did an internship in Asturias that I became completely fascinated about birds and their incredible adaptations to the environment. From that point on, it has been difficult to find me without the binoculars at hand.

A few years ago I moved to Granada to study a Master in Biodiversity, and after that I collaborated with Granada's University in a research about common magpies and great-spotted cuckoos.

At the moment, I'm living in Sevilla, where I've started my formation to become a bird ringer and where I work as a guide for Doñana Wings."

LOCAL GUIDE

"I am Fernando, a polyvalent naturalist, bir-ringer and biologist born in Algeciras (Cádiz)..

Being a child, I was fascinated by the flocks of birds of prey flying over my house, and being born in the Strait of Gibraltar, the most important bird migration route in Europe, contributed to forge my love for birds and nature, with a great interest in migration.

At the age of 18 I became one of the youngest bird ringers in Spain, while my eagerness to know more and more species led me to travel around Europe, Africa, Asia and Central America.

Even though I am relatively young, I have worked on conservation and research projects in several countries in Europe, Africa and North America, as well as on research into the effects of wind farms on birds.

I am also an experienced nature guide, and have led many trips for international companies in Europe, Africa and the Neotropics."
